Project Summery

The District Tharparkar is largest desert area of Pakistan, consisting of seven tehsils i.e. Mithi, Diplo, Kaloi, Islamkot, Chachro, Dahali, and Nagarparkar, having 1.6 million populations spread in the largest geographical desert area of Sindh. Girls’ education in Tharparkar is among low priority area for government and semi government institutions/organization.
Like different parts of the country, the arrangement of instructive administrations in the public area in Sindh is restricted because of absence of assets, powerless administration, low prioritization and peripheral political responsibility. Lack of well-working schools, unfortunate foundation of existing schools, and the shortfall of significant local area contribution have brought about low degrees of school support, high drop-out rates, insufficient understudy learning results, and the development of tuition based schools that are frequently unregulated. The absence of young lady well disposed offices, for example, separate lavatories, limit walls, and female educators are key obstructions to female support in conventional tutoring.
A Baseline report conducted in five tehsils of district Tharparkar by DDA outlines that 15,861children ( 7,237 boys and 8,624 girls) are out of schools and around 70% of primary schools are lacking basic school facilities while 95% of visited schools don’t have active School Management Committee- SMCs. The situation in rest of union councils of Tharparkar is not much different from these union councils, so it is supposed that a large number of children are out of school due to several reasons in Tharparkar. This project focuses on enrollment of OOPSC, Provision of school missing facilities and strengthening the capacities of school teachers on ABL & MGT and School Management Committees on operation and maintenance of school physical infrastructure.
During this project phase of 2021, DDAT with the support of Taluka/ District Education Department and UNESCO Pakistan will target 300 government primary schools from twenty union councils of tehsils i.e Mithi, Islamkot, Kaloi, Diplo and Nagarparkar of Tharparkar district which will mainly focus to mainstream 4,000 out of school children (as per criteria of UNESCO) in government schools through strengthen parents’ groups, SMCs and launching enrolment campaign.
